Benefit 4 Kids
Benefit4Kids was founded in 1998 with its primary mission to grant the outdoor wishes of children with life threatening and life limiting illnesses. We also work to involve today's children in the outdoors and the many activities it offers them. Many of today's children are denied the opportunity to experience the outdoors because of costs, lack of available mentors and a limited amount of facilities offering an all around outdoor experience. Benefit4Kids works to help these children experience the outdoors through several children's programs. Benefit4Kids also works closely with several children's camps designed to work with injured and ill children. Instructors at these camps are experienced in medical procedures necessary to work with these children. They are also experienced in archery, camping, outdoor cooking, hiking, nature and many other facets of outdoor activities. In working with these and several other children's camps Benefit4Kids will continue to assist many less fortunate children enjoy our great outdoors and help them to learn the morals and family values that are so often lacking today.
Benefit4Kids is a 100% Volunteer Organization. We all have jobs and do this on our spare time out of the kindness of our hearts. This allows 100% of your donations to go straight to supporting the kids.

Brad Gordon
Brad “Hawghunter65” Gordon began at the tender age of eight years old with a .22, rabbit and squirrel hunting with his father on their family farm. He was lucky enough to add pheasants and finally deer to his list of quarries during his teenage years of life. In his fifties, he also began turkey hunting after Michigan began a exchange program of Canadian geese for wild eastern turkeys from Alabama. Brad’s passion in hunting is equally divided between trophy mature bucks and big boss gobblers that roam his current hunting grounds. He is married with five grown children and 5 grandchildren. His hobbies besides hunting are fishing for bluegills, growing food plots, and the game of golf.
Brent Sawyer
TalkHunting Pro Staffer, Brent "Cobrican" Sawyer, was born into a sporting family. His first couple years of life were spent on the banks of Lake Arthur and around his grandfather's farm in Jennings, La. Even when his family moved to the city, they visited the farm often. Brent's parents and Pawpaw spent as many hours as they could find taking him outside to learn how to care for and survive on the land around him. They camped and hiked. They gardened. Brent joined the Boy Scouts as a Bobcat and continued to be involved through his High School days. There, he learned many new skills to help him belong out of doors. Brent and his cousins would often sleep out under the stars with only a blanket.
At the age of 8 he was given his first BB gun. At 10 he was allowed to hunt with a shotgun. The family had a lease where they hunted, predominantly, Speckle-belly geese with the occasional snow or duck. They also hunted doves and rabbits. Brent learned how to call specks well enough to hunt on his own in only a short time. About the time Brent went to college, his grandfather dropped the hunting lease. Fortunately, North Louisiana offers some great opportunities for hunting on public lands. He spent many hours duck hunting as well as hunting small game. In 2000 Brent was invited to his first deer hunt. Since then he has been fully involved in the deer hunting experience. He also loves to fish. Lately he has made more opportunities to fish salt water than freshwater but he enjoys both.
Brent Graduated with a degree in Forest Technology and has used his degree as a basis for hunting and recreation properties management. He joined Talkhunting.com in 2008 and has attended gatherings in Louisiana and Alabama. He also works for Breathe Safe Environmental Services as a third party monitor for lead and asbestos abatement. He loves his job but hopes to be able to one day move exclusively to property management and consulting.
Dave Culver
David “KraQr” Culver grew up on a small farm in Southeast Missouri which helped ingrain a passion for the outdoors and develop a foundation in his life. He not only grew up with working experiences on a farm but was introduced to all things sporting goods as a small child. His father owned and ran a small sporting goods store which focused primarily on firearms and repair. At a very early age Dave gained a mutual interest in firearms and how to safely use them. Dave enjoys talking about firearms and sharing stories of some of his personal collection.
Hunting rabbits, squirrels, coyotes, and other animals around the farm was always a teaching moment. Hunting was a way of life and most of the time was for food rather than sport. Dave became an avid fisherman and had plans of pursuing a professional career in tournament fishing as a teenager. Distractions in life and other goals derailed his fishing plans but not the pursuit of a whitetail deer. Dave started hunting whitetail deer as a teenager and continues to pursue that goal across many states and locations. For him, It’s more about the experiences you share than the conquest of the hunt.
When not out scouring the woods, Dave works as a computer security architectural engineer and a real estate broker in the Panhandle area of Florida. Dave is an Air Force veteran of Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and many other deployments. Dave spends his free time with his significant other, Jenell. They recently bought a new home and as expected each had their own requirements while searching. She wanted a big kitchen and he had to have a yard big enough to practice shooting his bow. Now they are both satisfied and she will hopefully join him in the tree stand this year.
David Rice
David "dlr" Rice started hunting at the age of 17. He has always been interested in the sport but never had the chance to go because no one in his family hunted. His father took him fishing but he never liked the aspect of hunting.
While in high school David had friends that hunted with their father’s. He had been invited a few times to go, but his father thought it was too dangerous. His best friend Bobby's Dad worked with David's dad and he asked if it would be ok for him to go hunting with them. His father gave the ok and from that point on he was hooked.
So David has been hunting since the age of 17 and has never stopped since. His passion grew from small game to big game. He started to bow hunt at the age of 23 and loved it more then gun hunting. He loves the aspect of being proficient with the bow and how you have to come face to face with your game. He is a self taught bow tech and loves to work on bows and help anyone that he can.
David has been coaching youngsters in Archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzle loading, orienteering, and wild life id. He has coached in the YHEC program for 8 years, and is still active in the YHEC program by volunteering for the state and international level. He has been teaching Hunter Ed for the state of Maryland for over 19 years and loves every minute of it. He is now in the process of becoming a Hunter Ed teacher for the state of Pennsylvania as well.

Dennis has been married for the last 35 Years and has one Daughter, age 30, and two wonderful grand children that he is bringing up to enjoy Hunting, Fishing and the outdoors. Denny has many years of experience hunting whitetail in the thick woods of Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. He just recently started chasing the elusive Eastern Turkey that Alabama is known for, and he harvested his first gobbler during the 2009 spring season. Denny is currently working on becoming an accomplished turkey caller.

Doug DeJong
Doug "ddejong" DeJong lives in the Kansas City area with his wife, Mary, of 30 years. Doug developed a love for hunting and fishing while growing up in the middle of Minnesota’s lake country. On his first hunting outing he bagged a wood duck with a 16 gauge, and has been hooked on hunting ever since. Doug has four children, including three boys all of whom enjoy hunting and fishing together.
Doug lost touch with the outdoors after moving to Dallas upon college graduation. After relocating to Kansas in 1998, he was reintroduced to hunting and has taken it back up with passion. Ten years ago he bought an 80 acre farm in SE Kansas which he actively manages for turkey, deer, and quail. Five years ago he purchased another 100 acres on the Missouri side to allow him another set of seasons to hunt deer and turkey, as well as ducks and bass in the ponds and creek. Over the years Doug has seen the results of active whitetail management with bigger and bigger bucks, but gets as much satisfaction of working the properties as he does with the harvest. He has a German Shorthair Pointer named Pepper to share in the upland game opportunities central and western Kansas offers. He has also made forays to Wyoming for antelope on two occasions. He and the boys make regular summer fishing forays back to Minnesota and Canada.
Doug has a passion for introducing new hunters to the sport, and routinely brings ‘newbies’ on their first hunts at his farms.
Professionally Doug is a pharmacist, and serves as the Senior Director of Pharmacy for an eleven hospital system. He relishes the fact that he loses cell phone coverage the moment he turns onto the gravel road leading to his farms, allowing him to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors. Doug is an active member of Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, and the NWTF.
Duane Taylor
TalkHunting Pro Staffer Duane "Duane72" Taylor was born in western NY. As the son of a pastor, he spent several childhood years in Wisconsin, then West Virginia where he graduated high school before landing in Rhode Island. Moving out on his own, Duane spent a few years in Texas before enlisting in the US Air Force where he served for four years, stationed in Germany and South Carolina, and took part in Operation Desert Shield. After, he returned to RI where he served an additional year in the Air National Guard and married his fiancé Desiree. He now works full-time as the Facility Manager of his church, as well as volunteer serves on the board of Deacons. Duane cherishes his life with Desiree and is the proud father of two boys.
Growing up in a family that, even though they were not opposed to it, had minimal interest in hunting, Duane had few, if no, opportunities to experience the world of hunting for himself. He has always had an enjoyment of fishing and holds fond memories of fishing the ponds and lakes of Wisconsin with his dad and siblings. Always having a deep interest in hunting though, he took it upon himself to get started the year after settling home in Rhode Island. Armed with nothing more than an ancient recurve given to him by an old man in his church when he was in his teens, and decked out in his Air Force BDUs, he plunged into what would soon become a passion, hobby, and lifestyle.
It was several years before Duane would arrow his first deer with a used compound bow he had "upgraded" to. But those first years brought with them many valuable lessons, mentors, and friends and were the foundations of the successful years that followed. Hunting also the shotgun and muzzleloader seasons, spring & fall turkey, as well as some small game and coyote, Duane spends a great deal of time in the woods or preparing to be there. His other passions are most importantly God, his family, and his off-season fix of motorcycles.
Harold Hollingsworth
Family consists of my beautiful wife of 40 years and we have two married children, boy and girl. Four grandsons, one granddaughter.
My hobbies are hunting and fishing. Did not start hunting till I was 18, Mother would not let me have a gun until I pointed out to her I had to register for the Draft. Her Father hunted but my Father and his Father did not. We did a lot of fishing with worms from creek banks growing up as that's what my Father enjoyed which I still do. After I got my first gun with Mother saying yes, it was her Father's single shot Stevens 12 GA. I spend one whole Saturday in my grandparent's woods trying to get small game. Finally as the sun was going down decided I was going to at least shoot at a tree. Had wanted the first shot to get game. The gun would not work, the firing pin was rusted. I was still hooked on hunting!!! Got lots of small game and birds with that old shotgun. Got my first deer at the age of 28 and been hooked every since on deer hunting.
Served in the Air Force from 1969 to 1995 during Vietnam and a few other “conflicts”. NCOIC CE Supply Point, Sgt., Myrtle Beach AFB SC 1970-1972. NCOIC CE Supply Point, Sgt. Osan AB Korea 1972-1973. Jason Jonas
Jason "mzutiger" Jonas started hunting with his Dad at 5 years old. Equipped with his "gun" (stick) he would get after quail and pheasant. Over the years Jason has pursued other critters too. Currently he's trying to finish the Career Grand Slam with his father. With only a Merriam to go, he is looking forward to sharing this accomplishment with his Dad. He has yet to master the art of Turkey hunting, and is doubtful he ever will. That's what keeps him coming back for more! As life goes full circle, he is now taking his own boys hunting.
Jason grew up in the Kansas city area. Having played football in college, and graduating from the University of Missouri, he is now a Flight Paramedic, and was previously a Firefighter/Paramedic. He is pursuing a Nursing Degree. Jason is married and the father of 3 boys. Which keep him plenty busy!
Jason is trying to expand his hunting pursuits and become a Whitetail hunter. He took his first Buck this past winter in Missouri. While it was an 11 point, it wasn't exactly the prettiest deer. Definitely a cull buck! But that Buck fever is now getting going. And as time will allow, he'd like to step back into Bow Hunting. Something a shoulder injury in college sidetracked... When turkey and deer aren't in season, he likes to Coach his boys sports teams and do some travelling with his wife.
Jeff Love
Jeff “ke7cjw” Love, was introduced to hunting and fishing at a young age by his father. Growing up in the Cascade mountains of Western Washington Jeff spent most of his time chasing squirrels, rabbits, and grouse. When Jeff was old enough to hunt big game he started a life long quest for Blacktail deer and Roosevelt elk.
Jeff worked for many years in the same sawmill his father worked in and that many of his child hood friends also worked in. After a life altering accident in 1997 that cost him most of the use of his right arm he went back to school to learn computers. Now living in Southern Idaho Jeff is learning to hunt Antelope, Mule deer, Turkey, and Yellowstone elk.
When Jeff is not out in the woods he is working on perfecting his photography or re arranging his antennas for his amateur radio to make contact with other avid radio operators across the country.
Jim Simonton
Jim “BamaHunter” Simonton was a late bloomer when it came to deer hunting. He grew up bass and bream fishing in local ponds and actually learned how to shoot by helping to control turtle populations with a 22 rifle. He began deer hunting as a teenager but it wasn’t until his early 20’s that he realized there was more to chasing whitetails than just signing out for a spot and sitting there. To make a long story short, that is when his true obsession started.
When not in the woods or at work, Jim can be found at home with his family (or maybe on a golf course). He has been married to his beautiful wife Tonya since 1991 and has been blessed with two wonderful sons, Aaron (16) and Clay (10). They all four hunt together and Jim is a firm believer that a family that hunts together stays together.

He started tagging along with his dad hunting squirrels and rabbits at the age of 6 with a .410 single shot shot gun, that he still has now 24 years later. He was introduced to hunting whitetail deer as a teenager and he has been hunting and studying them ever since. He gradually worked his way up to what is now his passion......Bow hunting whitetails. In the past five years he has picked up his second passion turkey hunting. Building food plots and scouting are Kimberly's favorite parts of deer hunting. She has not harvested an animal while still hunting, but she intends to hunt from a treestand this upcoming season instead of in a blind. Hopefully, her luck will change. In theory, she is a rookie still hunter.

He loved to squirrel hunt and would carry her into the woods and sit her on a rock and let her hold his prizes. He took Luanne on her first Pheasant and Rabbit hunts when she was 7. Shortly after that he had a massive stroke and was never able to return to the woods again. When Luanne was 9 her Father, who was about to retire from the Marine Corps after 20 years active duty, and Uncle decided that since she could shoot she could remove the ground hogs and crows from the farm fields. Luanne spent the next few years watching all the wildlife and removing varmints from the farm. She took herself deer hunting for the first time when she was 15 and took her first deer at 17. There was a long time between Luanne's first deer and her next deer due to college and work and general life. She did a lot of small game hunting with her ex-husband starting in 1985 and killed her next deer in 1988. She has not missed a deer or turkey season since. When not hunting she is fishing or working in her garden (when not WORKING...).

Randy Haehnlein
TalkHunting Staff Writer Randy "Hunly" Haehnlein started hunting and fishing with his grandfather and other family members at around 7 or 8 years old. He started out with small game, as most do, hunting squirrels and rabbits. Then, as his granddaddy figured out he was ready, he started to let Randy venture out around the farm on his own. Most of Randy's knowledge has been self taught and he has a great love of the outdoors. Its not the thrill of the kill for Randy, even though he does enjoy taking a great buck, gobbler or catching a great fish. He says its just about being out there. Randy has been in the outdoors for over 30 years now and yet he still learns something new everyday. His motto is "Enjoy what's around you and pass it on to someone else like it was passed on to you."

Born in 1966, he began hunting as soon as he could keep the gun off the ground, hunting sqirrels, rabbit, dove and quail with his father and grandfather. Fishing for catfish and bream also consumed many hours of his youth. In his early teens, Scott was introduced to bass fishing and whitetail deer hunting. These became his passions and still are to this day. He has fished and hunted over most of north Alabama and just two years ago had his first out-of-state hunt in Kentucky.
Although he lived and finished school in the small town of Arab, Alabama, the rural area where he was raised beckoned him back. When he was married in 1989, he and his wife ,Marla, moved back to the country. They bought his grandfather's house and there they still live today with their two children, Langston and Leanna. They maintain a small farm and have recently invested in a few more acres to enable Scott to get his outdoor fix.
When he's not plotting his next hunting plans or planning his next food plot, Scott is managing an asphalt plant for Whitaker Contracting Corporation based in Guntersville, Alabama, where he has been an employee for the past 20 years.
Tom Knight
Tom “flbuckhunter” Knight was introduced into hunting and fishing at an early age by his father and grandfather. Born in central Ohio, hunting and fishing was a family way of life. He was fishing regularly at the age of 3 and started tagging along coon hunting with his father at the age of 5. From day one he was hooked and has never looked back. He soon was tromping through the woods and fields in pursuit of rabbits, squirrels, and pheasants. At age 8 the love of the outdoors soon took on a new love and that was the Whitetail Deer. At the age of 12 his family relocated to Sarasota, Fl where he discovered many new game species including the Osceola Turkey and wild hogs, but to this day the Whitetail is his true passion. Tom has spent 29 years pursuing the whitetail and enjoys every moment he spends in the outdoors.
Tom currently hunts locally around the State of Florida, has a personal lease in Troy, Alabama, and also is the camp master of a 10 member 1600 acre hunting club in Allendale, South Carolina.
Tom is a graduate of Troy University located in Troy, Alabama where he earned a B.S. degree in Finance. Tom is a Lifetime Sportsmen License Holder in the state of Florida and is co-chairman of the Southbay chapter of Friends of the NRA.
When Tom is not in the woods or on the water he is spending time with his two children who are quickly gaining the same passion for the outdoors as their father. They have both loved fishing and have been tagging along to the deer stand or turkey woods with dad for several years and both will be getting their first opportunity to hunt this coming season.

Zach Long
Zach “ZLong19” Long was born and raised on a farm in Morgan County, Alabama. After graduating from Hartselle High School he decided to pursue a career in Wildlife Biology. Demands for a job outweighed a college career so Zach decided to apply for a factory job and leave college behind for the time being. He was offered a job at a local carbon fiber factory. After taking the job, he asked his high school sweetheart for her hand in marriage. They got married in June of 2008. Since becoming a married man he has gotten a new job in the same factory with Research and Development and has been asked to once more, attend college for the degree of his choice. He has chosen to get a Chemical Engineering Degree.
He started fishing with his father at the rip ole age of 3. Small game hunting began a few years later and gradually grew into deer hunting with the help of his father and uncle. In his teens, he began to duck hunt, but that whitetail fire still stayed strong. Soon he would put up the waders and pick the rifle back up for good.
Zach spends the majority of his time during the winter strategizing for his next hunt, checking game cameras, moving stands, and just enjoying the outdoors. He spends his spring chasing long-beards, and his summer is spent in a bass boat trying to win winter hunting funds. He has a strong heart for getting the children involved in the outdoors that are not familiar with the outdoor lifestyle He has recently started a non-profit organization called “The Experience” dedicated to getting those children into the outdoors.
